Community Relations Coordinator (CRC)

General Position Description:
The Community Relations Coordinator (CRC) develops and implements strategies and
operating plans to fulfill objectives of CJCPR in the areas of community relations,
communications assistance, education, and advocacy. The CRC works with CJCPR
standing committees, working groups and tasks forces, while maintaining regular
communications with Jewish organizations as well as governmental and nongovernmental
organizations.
Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Director, the Communication Relations Coordinator will be
responsible for the following:
· Leadership in developing and overseeing the implementation of projects,
including inter-faith and inter-cultural activities;
· Research and preparation of materials on issues relating to public policy and
multiculturalism in British Columbia;
· Planning and coordinating ongoing meetings, conferences and public forums;
· Ability to handle difficult situations related to antisemitism and racism;
· Develop anti-racism educational programs for schools, boards and small
communities;
· Work closely with the Vancouver Police Department and the RCMP on issues
related to hate crimes
· Manage CJCPR committees and assist in liaising with the Board of Directors
through agenda-preparation, materials for meetings and note-taking
Qualifications:
· Minimum 2-3 years experience in a not for profit organization or public sector
environment;
· A post-secondary university degree;
· Knowledge and understanding of Jewish community;
· Excellent interpersonal and communications skills;
· Ability to work flexible hours;
· Experience working with volunteers and in a team environment.
