Next Speaker: Sam Znaimer, VP, Ventures West Management

Sam_znaimerSam Znaimer is a pioneer of the Canadian venture capital scene with over 20 years of hands-on early stage technology investing experience. He joined Ventures West in 1983 and actively leads investments in the telecommunications and IT sectors.

Sam currently serves as a director of Convedia Corporation,  Quic Financial Technologies Inc. and Zeugma Systems.  Sam represents Ventures West as the General Partner of the Western Technology Seed Investment Fund, a venture capital fund co-managed by Ventures West that was created in 1997 to provide seed stage financing for early stage technology projects in Western Canada. He also serves as a director of iCORE, Alberta´s Informatics Circle of Research Excellence. Sam was a founding Director of BC Technology Social Venture Partners advising EMBERS, an economic development group in Vancouver´s downtown eastside, and the Potluck Café, a social enterprise that provides free, nutritious meals to the “hardest to house” in this economically troubled area.

Sam received an A.B. (cum laude) in chemistry from Harvard University and a M.Sc. in chemical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Lately Sam has been brushing up his media production skills, acting as a production assistant on the infamous Clay Murder animation series (http://members.shaw.ca/leith.znaimer/animations.htm)

Please NOTE Recent Changes:

  • Start Time: Nosh n' Network runs from 8-9:30 am. (You may mix n' mingle after the formal event is over.)
  • Price Drop: Advance Registration: $8; At the door: $10 (GST included)
  • 5-second Introductions (5 secs each): After the Speaker/Q&A session, we will go around the tables so that people can introduce themselves - consisting of your name, profession and organization.
